Masters 2011 Leaderboard: Rory McIlroy Gets Stronger at Augusta as Tiger Falls

Masters 2011 Leaderboard Stays Young With Rory McIlroy as Tiger Woods Falters

Day Two at the Masters is getting long in the tooth. We have some golfers take their last swings at the 2011 edition of the Masters at Augusta.

It's cut day. That means a whole bunch of these golfers will turn into spectators. Currently, the projected cut is at +1. That means players like Tiger Woods are gripping at the moment.

Woods finished a fine round on Thursday, ending at one-under. Friday saw Tiger get off on the wrong foot. He immediately bogied one, and saved face by netting a par on two. He again dropped a shot on the next hole. With a whole day in front of him, Woods is dangerously close to the cut line.

On the flip side, there is Rory McIlroy. The young golfer has his entire career in front of him. It looks to be a very successful one at that. The 21-year old is following up a stellar day of golf on Thursday with a blazing pace on Friday.

McIlroy is challenging all-comers with three birdies on the day. He now sits ten-under for the tournament. That makes a terrific day by the likes of K.J. Choi look pedestrian. Rory will soon be a household name. Golf has been waiting for the return of Tiger Woods.

Well, we very well could have golf's newest superstar in Rory McIlroy. He is a grounded kid that can sure strike the ball.

The other player of note is Phil Mickelson. Lefty has been up and down all day. He is even at the moment, and he'll take it. That keeps him at -2 on the tournament, and in a perfect spot to make some noise going into the weekend.

You can be sure that this is just the beginning. All of this is just preamble to what will prove to be an exciting couple of days on Saturday and Sunday.
