Tiger Woods: Off to the Start He Needed

If Tiger Woods wants a shot at coming from way back and winning this tournament, he needs to get off to a hot start.

And so far that is exactly what Woods has done.

After paring the first hole, Woods went birdie-birdie on holes two and three. That puts him at seven-under-par for the tournament and five strokes behind current leader Rory McIlroy.

There is still a long way to go if Woods hopes to pull off the amazing and win.

He still must play 15 holes of mistake free golf. Woods simply cannot afford to miss any putts that are make-able and cannot miss fairways.

Woods needs to be the best we have seen him in months, maybe years.

Shooting 70 simply will not get it done today. At worst, Woods needs to shoot 65. If he wants to make a serious run at the title, a 63 would be the best he could hope for.

There is a long way for Woods to go to even be a serious threat, let alone win this tournament. Even so, it will be fun to watch him try.
