Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley: Is This the Most Important Fight of the Year?

This is the biggest fight of the year for sure. It will get the most pay-per-view buys, be talked about the most, and will get the most play on ESPN.

That doesn't mean it is the most important fight of the year though. As most people already know few people are giving Shane Mosley a chance, and that usually means the fight is going to be dull.

No matter what you think of this fight I do not think it is the most important fight of the year. If you ask me the Wladimir Klitschko-David Haye is the most important fight of the year.

If it happens (and that remains to be seen) it will get the heavyweight division back in the spotlight, and will put us so close to a unified heavyweight division.

This isn't the fight "to save the heavyweight division", but it is getting people interested. This is a heavyweight title fight that I can not wait to see. Haye is a big, hard hitting, athletic heavyweight who can at least make a run at Wladimir.

Wladimir is by and far the best heavyweight out there and Haye is the only threat out there. After this fight there isn't much in the heavyweight division.

If Wladimir wins the fight though he has every title outside of Vitali's and with Vitali set to retire this year it would open the door for Wladimir to grab that title.

I also think that a Wladimir-Haye fight would just be better. They are both at, or near, the top of their peak and would put on a great show.
