Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing back Jose Mourinho, and are apparently set to sack Ancelotti after the season.
Mirror Football reports that players are keen on a "Dream Team" of Mourinho and Guus Hiddink managing Chelsea in 2011, and have expressed that sentiment to the club's ownership. Whether or not any meetings have taken place, there certainly has been plenty of talk about bringing Mourinho back over the last few months. Is it a fan fantasy or could it really happen? Let's take a look.
Why Mourinho makes sense: The Special One has been reportedly unhappy at Madrid for quite some time. The ownership hierarchy is a mess, and his club is faced with a monumental task in upending Barcelona. If he leaves on his own conditions after just one year, no one can say he failed (he's already taken Madrid farther in the Champions League than they've been in nearly a decade).
He's clearly welcome at Chelsea, has the love of the fans and would be under substantially less pressure than in Spain. Ancelotti isn't particularly popular at Stamford Bridge right now and he could be sacked either way, so Mourinho can really make the decision for himself and not worry about the incumbent.
Why it doesn't make sense: Mourinho loves challenges. Beating Barcelona is his biggest yet. He wants to succeed everywhere he goes, and it looks like he won't win La Liga this season. His M.O. has generally been to try something new every season, so going back to a former conquest would be a first.
The verdict: Who knows. Reading Mourinho's mind is an impossible endeavor, and it's quite likely not even he knows where he'll be in 2011.
