Emeril Lagasse Cooking Up New Series, Mike Tyson 'Breaking In' to Primetime, and More

Emeril Lagasse is back in the kitchen -- but he won't be dishing out the food. The Cooking Channel announced Wednesday a May 5 debut for 'The Originals With Emeril,' a new series that sees Lagasse hitting the road to pay tribute to iconic food establishments that have helped shape the country's culinary landscape. While the restaurant business is risky, challenging and faddish, and the life of a restaurant can sometimes be short, every city has cherished institutions that have stood the test of time. In each 30-minute episode, Lagasse will visit a new city and go behind-the-scenes at three historic eateries -- speaking with the chefs and customers to help reveal their fascinating stories.

The Cooking Channel also revealed several other new primetime offerings, including shows that look at street food, pastry chefs and Spanish foods: 'Eat St.' (premiering April 12), 'Unique Sweets' (April 24), 'From Spain With Love' (May 27) and 'Hook, Line & Dinner' (June 7).

The Food Network, meanwhile, also announced a slew of new series: Ashley Vicos' 'Have Cake, Will Travel,' premiering April 26, 'Best in Smoke' (May 8), 'Crave' (June 20) and, later this year, 'Heat Seekers,' 'Tough Cookies,' 'Chef Hunte' and 'Sugar High.' [The Hollywood Reporter]
