Jim Harbaugh San Francisco 49ers: What His Departure Means For Stanford

Jim Harbaugh San Francisco 49ers: What His Departure Means For Stanford

Under Jim Harbaugh, Stanford went from 1-11 the season before he arrived to 12-1 in his final season. His loss is a big deal to the Cardinal who could challenge for a BCS Championship next season.

With Harbaugh on his way to San Francisco, what does Stanford do now?

It seems likely that Stanford would hire from within to try and keep the ball rolling on their recent success.

Two candidates that I have heard mentioned are Associate Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach of Offense Greg Roman and Offensive Coordinator David Shaw.

Roman was hired a two years ago and since then the Cardinal have risen in the offensive rankings by leaps and bounds.

Shaw is a Stanford graduate and knows the culture at Stanford.

Either guy would be a great hire is Stanford hopes to keep continuity.
