2011 Stanley Cup Predictions: One Team Will Win the Cup in 5 Games

Since 1993, when the Montreal Canadiens defeated Wayne Gretzky's Los Angeles Kings in five games, a Canadian team has not won the Stanley Cup.

A year later the Vancouver Canucks lost to the New York Rangers in Game 7 of the Finals. This year, the Canucks have a chance to become the first Canadian team in 17 years to win it all.

Standing in their way, however, is the Boston Bruins, who have not been to the Finals since 1990, when they lost to Gretzky's Edmonton Oilers. Their coach at the time: current Versus analyst Mike Milbury.

The Canucks have not won a Stanley Cup since joining the league in 1970. The Bruins, an Original Six team, has not won since 1972.

With the recent success of the Patriots, Red Sox and Celtics, the city is waiting for this team to join the rest of the Boston teams as a recent champion.

Who will win it this year?

I'll tell you in the following slides.

Enjoy!

Meet Purdue's Epic Rube Goldberg Winning Device, Our Fantasy Gadget

This years Rube Goldberg competition asked college students take the simple task of watering a flower. Not only did a team from Purdue University beat out all the competition this year with this complex device, but they also crushed the previous world record by over 244 steps!

The machine also tells the story about the history of the world starting with the big bang and ending with the still looming apocalypse. My hat is off to the winning team for such a creative contraption. Watering a flower has never been this complicated.

LeBron James calls for patience after Miami Heat lose season opener

? Expensively assembled side go down 88-80 to Boston Celtics
? Coach Erik Spoelstra: 'There's no reason to panic right now'

LeBron James has asked for patience after the Boston Celtics spoiled the opening act of his latest NBA title challenge by beating the Miami Heat 88-80 in their much-anticipated season opener last night.

"It's a feel-out process," said James, who scored 31 points but had eight turnovers in the game, played in front of a sold-out raucous crowd. "When you have so many options it's something I'm not accustomed to, having that many threats out on the court at the same time."

The two-times league MVP, who played seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and his fellow free agent Chris Bosh signed for Miami in the off-season, joining the perennial All-Star Dwyane Wade in southern Florida. With so much talent, they will be loved at home, vilified on the road, and on television as much as possible.

"We've played in hostile environments before, so that's respect," said Wade, who misfired on 12 of 16 shots against the Celtics and had six turnovers. The seven-year NBA veteran said the Heat have to "get used to playing with each other and get used to the attention this team is going to have on them".

Bosh was just as ineffective as Wade, making only three of 11 shots while creating little of the inside presence the Heat are going to need if they are to challenge for the title.

"We know what's going on," Bosh said. "We know that a lot of people are watching. We know a lot of people are really putting us under the microscope. We know that. It's evident. You turn on the TV, you see what's going on, you see what people are talking about. That's a part of the game. That's what it is.

"We knew it was going to be like that. Dealing with it is another thing. But at the end of the day, it's going to be here, it's not going anywhere. We just have to settle down."

The Heat coach, Erik Spoelstra, said over-eagerness by his players had counted against them. "There's no reason to panic right now," he said. "We knew this would be a little bit of a process, and this is the first step."

Kim Kardashian: Engagement to Kris Humphries Could Create Reality Bonanza

Kim Kardashian Pending Marriage Offers Huge Potential for Reality TV

Let the commotion begin.

This has been a great few weeks for matrimony. We had everyone from the Royal Couple to Tony Romo get hitched. Now we have New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian set to wed at an as of yet undisclosed date and place.

You can bet that before they schedule their nuptials, they will have to run everything by a producer from the all popular network E!

MUST READ: The 50 Hottest Women Wearing Baseball Jerseys

Now if that ain't romance, I don't know what is. The Hollwyood Reporter is reporting the wedding will certainly be televised. A big fat sigh can be heard from all you Kardashian fans.

The only thing they are deciding on now is how to do it. They may to a one off special ala Khloe Kardashian's wedding to Lamar Odom.

They may also choose to do an entire spin-off. You know, just in case there weren't enough shows featuring a Kardashian.

You can now enjoy the engagement of the two celebrities. I am completely confident that E! will milk every last second of this process. Then they will close it all out with a two-hour special where they are finally married.

This is all well and good for reality TV lovers, but we are running out of Kardashians to marry. That, my friends, is the sound of producers jumping out of buildings.

'Cougar Town' Name Change: For Real This Time?

Filed under:

Cougar TownBill Lawrence has been on a quest to change the name of his hit ABC sitcom from 'Cougar Town' to something else for more than a year. There was talk of it happening before season two, but it never happened.

Instead, the creators just mocked the name with new title cards, such as "Badly titled 'Cougar Town,'" every week. However, with a new season afoot, it looks like Lawrence and co-creator Kevin Biegel are opting for a name change, again.

"Screw it. I'm changing it (if Kevin's cool w it. Someone ask him for me)," Lawrence tweeted. "Seriously, we just decided. Will use fans to help w new title."

WWE News: Nasty Boys? Brian Knobbs Reportedly Mocks Macho Man?s Death

WWE News and Nasty Boys? Brian Knobbs Reportedly Mocks Macho Man?s Death

Last weekend at the annual Wrestlefest in Newark, California, it was reported that former WWE Nasty Boys tag team member Brian Knobbs mocked Macho Man Randy Savage?s death the night the news broke.

Wrestlefest this year was frequented by Bret Hart, Kevin Nash, X-Pac Sean Waltman, the Nasty Boys and many others.

Wrestle Zone is reporting:

One wrestler in attendance told me that Knobs would be impersonating Savage and then put his hands to his chest as if he was faking a heart attack.  "[Knobs] was joking about the fact that he outlived Savage and so many other wrestlers and it was just uncalled for," one source told WrestleZone.com. Another wrestler at the event said that it's just how Knobs is, but it's no excuse.  "He's just an asshole in real life, but it doesn't mean it should be tolerated.  Whether he really meant anything or not by it, show some respect".

Normally I wouldn't believe that something like this really went down, but when a fellow wrestler sells Knobbs down the river it might be legitimate.

Must Read: WWE News: Kharma and the 23 Most Unstable Wrestling Personalities in History

Waltman said on his blog:

What is a big deal in my book is when he arrived at the convention and he came to me laughing and holding his chest, saying ?Oh yeah!? and mocks having a heart attack. Some fans even saw him do it. Mocking the death of Randy less than 24 hours after it happened. I know I?ve done some bad things in my life, a lot of things Im very sorry for.

This is an extremely low move for anyone to do, but this is not out of the ordinary for the Brian Knobbs. He has always been known as a bully and he lives his persona, hence the comments.

People need to take it for what it is and realize that there are people out there that shouldn?t be taken seriously and Knobbs is one of them. I compare it to Bernard Hopkins talking about Donovan McNabb, just consider the source.

Check back for more on the WWE as it comes, and check out Bleacher Report?s Wrestling Page to get your fill of the WWE.

'What If You Lived At Ikea' Is 375 Sq. Ft. Of Pre-Packaged Home

Filed under:

Living in Ikea would be a lot like living at home, except the furniture is already built so there's none of those tiny wrenches and missing screw stuff to deal with. Oh yeah, there's also the fact that they seem to think people can live totally comfortably in under 400 square feet of space with minimalist household tools. Would it work? Is it comfortable? That's the theme behind Christian Gideon's latest set of photos, "What if you lived at Ikea?"

Gideon, his brother Dylan and their buddy Michael hung out in the pre-created living space at their local Ikea, waiting for staff and customers to roll on through, picking up their Ekby Gruven and other easy-to-build furniture along the way, and snapping shots of the living situations there-in. And because you're wondering, they thought the bedrooms were the most true-to-life of every area they frollicked.

Tim Tebow: John Elway Puts Faith into Former Heisman Trophy-Winning QB

Denver Broncos vice president of football operations and former NFL MVP John Elway has mentioned before that he's definitely a Tim Tebow fan—but does that mean he has faith that Tebow can develop into an NFL quarterback?

Elway recently spoke with the Denver Post and proclaimed his definite support of Tebow, and even acknowledged that he hopes that he can develop into a Hall of Famer.

"I have nothing but respect for Tim. He has so many qualities that can't be coached, and he was a proven winner in college. Can he be a starting quarterback and a winner on this level? He started three games, but Tim is no further along at this time than he was a year ago. We don't know yet what he will become.

I hope that Tim becomes a Hall of Famer as the Broncos quarterback."

Earlier this offseason, when Elway took over as vice president of football operations, it appeared that he was against the idea of starting Tebow in 2011. However, Tebow may be the front-runner as he sit in the midst of the NFL lockout.

Granted, Tebow is only a second-year quarterback and is still transforming his playing style from a spread-offense quarterback to a pro-style quarterback, but he showed many signs of greatness in his rookie season.

Tebow played in nine games for Denver last season, and actually started three of those games. The former Florida Gator played fairly well during his rookie campaign as he tossed five touchdowns and threw only three interceptions. Tebow completed only 50 percent of his passes but did post a 82.1 passer rating, which is rather impressive considering he only completed 50 percent of his passes.

As Tebow played more as a pocket passer in 2010, but he definitely didn't ditch his great running abilities in the dust. Tebow actually ran for 227 yards and six touchdowns during those nine games and averaged a stellar 5.3 yards per-carry.

We all know that Elway is going to make his mark on this Denver franchise as a member of the front office, and he's made it clear that he wants players to know "what it means to be a Bronco."

Tebow definitely has one of the best work ethics and will do whatever possible to get better—but if he wants to earn the starting job over the incumbent Kyle Orton, and the dark-horse Brady Quinn, he's going to have to play like a Bronco.

How TV Criticism Has Changed ... And Where It's Going

Steve Carell in 'The Office' - 'Goodbye, Michael'Today is my last day with AOL, having served AOL TV and TV Squad in various capacities since November 1, 2005, and I've enjoyed every day of it.

What's been the most interesting thing about my time here, when Keith McDuffee hired me to blog for TV Squad right after it and the rest of Weblogs, Inc. (Engadget, TUAW, Joystiq, etc.) were bought by AOL, has been how the coverage of TV has changed in a relatively short period of time.

Think back to 2005. It doesn't seem like that long ago, right? Most media websites had matured to the point where their designs were slick, professional and well-done. Blogs were starting to become the prevalent form of communication on the web. Heck, sites like Television Without Pity had already been around for a half-decade by that point, giving us funny recaps of our favorite shows and letting us sound off on message boards.

But besides TWoP, the old TV Squad and a scattered few others, there wasn't much out there in terms of giving fans really in-depth critical coverage of the shows they love.

Now? It's all over the place, and most of it is of high quality.

'The Killing' Season 1, Episode 10 Recap

I hope so, anyway. The final shot of Sunday's episode of 'The Killing,' which showed Det. Sarah Linden riding a ferry to what looked like Rosie Larsen's final destination, gave me some hope that the final run of episodes of this once-promising series will contain some actual payoffs, instead of endless red herrings and muddled character development.

'Gigolos' Marathon Alert! (Yes, There Is Mature Content)

Filed under:

GigolosIt's not every day you get to take a peek into the life of a gigolo -- that's what makes Showtime's reality series about male escorts so interesting.

The 'Gigolos' cast features your typical reality TV crowd: the cocky veteran (no pun intended), the new guy, etc. It's got the perfect blend of humor and drama, with enough crazy sex scenes thrown in to make it a very guilty pleasure.

Intrigued? Showtime is airing a two-part marathon of the eight-episode first season on Sho 2.

The first part of the marathon begins Sat., May 28 at 11PM ET, with the second half of the season airing on Sun., May 29 at 11PM ET.

Roger Federer: Can He Pull the Double Upset and Win His Second French Open?

As all the attention has been focused on Novak Djokovic' and his 43-match winning streak, the old Maestro has gone quietly about his business, expanding a little streak of his own by reaching his 28th consecutive quarterfinal at a Slam.

That means, Federer has been in the quarters or better for the past seven years in every single Slam. That's one more than the great Jimmy Connors and double the amount of the second best on the list, Ivan Lendl.

Roger Federer is yet to lose a set and has been serving impeccably well, winning 84 percent of his first serves. The Djoker has won as high a percentage and admittedly, he will be the favourite against Fed.

For one thing, he's beaten him the last three times they've met. For another, he hasn't lost since Federer beat him at the World Tour Finals in London, and with a quarterfinal lay-off, he will be well rested if Federer makes it past France's Gael Monfils.

I think he will. He's 5-1 against Monfils and lost the only match in a triple tie-breaker last fall. He's beaten Monfils at the 2008 and 2009 French Open. Federer's looked the best he's been all year since the Australian Open. When Federer is on, Monfils is hardly the player capable of derailing him.

Djokovic, as he has already proven, is more than capable of doing just that.

Nevertheless, we should know better than to count Federer out beforehand. Last year, Djokovic beat Roger in the semis of the US Open, a win that has been considered as something that made Djokovic believe that he could compete with and beat the two all-time greats.

Yet Roger went on to beat Novak three times in the fall and ended 2010 with a 4-1 record against the Serb. When he gave Djoko a tennis lesson at the World Tour Finals in London, the last time Djokovic lost, Djokovic admitted that no one had played better tennis than that the entire season.

Wouldn't it be fitting if Roger, the old man in tennis, was the one to end his young successor's streak? And wouldn't it be ironic if that turned out to pave the wave for his nemesis and friend, Rafael Nadal, to secure himself his sixth French Open crown and enter the double digits in Slams won?

It surely would.

Yet, Roger does have the variety to throw off Djokovic and pull what we are now forced to call a slight upset. He can't beat him on baseline consistency, but if he can serve at his best, keep his errors in check, throw in some slices, some junk balls and keep the rallies short, he just might end the streak.

And if he does and faces anyone but Nadal in the final, he will be the clear favourite to win it.

Yet, even if he faces Nadal, he does have more than a puncher's  chance.

Rafa will inevitably always be the favourite against Roger on clay. The high-kicking top-spin cross-court forehand to the one-handed Federer backhand provides a puzzle with no clear answers.

Yet Nadal hasn't been his normal clay-court self since Djokovic entered the clay draw in Madrid. He's shaken, but not out. And this level of insecurity might be just what Roger needs to pull the upset.

Admittedly, one can imagine that the clouds will clear from Rafa's head once it is no longer the insolvable challenge of Novak or Djokovic, but familiar 11-2 on clay friend, foe and pounding ball Roger Federer on the other side of the net.

But if Roger manages a head-start might those clouds not re-enter any minute as they appear to be these months, whenever Rafa is broken?

They might.

And this in turn would pave the way for what would be one of Roger's sweetest Slam victories, beating No. 1 and 2 in the process and silencing all of us who doubt him and believe it is more rational to think Djokovic will win it all.

What a trick that would be for the old, but not quite out.

He is the odd pick, but we would be foolish to count him out.

2011 NBA Mock Draft: Cavaliers Ensure Bright Future with Timberwolves Trade

2011 NBA Mock Draft Gets Exciting in Potential Cavaliers and Timberwolves Trade

Don't look now, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are showing a greedy disposition. And I Like it.

ESPN is reporting that Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Pistons are all discussing a three-way trade that would net the Cavaliers the first and second overall selections at next month's draft.

Chris Broussard of ESPN explains the finer details of the trade:

Cleveland would absorb Detroit's Richard Hamilton into the $14.6 million trade exception it received in last summer's LeBron James sign-and-trade with Miami, while also receiving the Pistons' No. 8 pick. The Cavaliers would then send that pick, along with their fourth pick, to Minnesota for the Timberwolves' second pick. Cleveland would then buy Hamilton out of the $25 million remaining in the last two years on his contract, leaving the veteran shooting guard free to sign with another club as a free agent. Chicago would be one of the likeliest destinations. Sources say, however, that Detroit will not consummate the trade as proposed without receiving players in return.

MUST READ: A Final Report Card for All 30 NBA Teams

Someone needs to tap the Pistons ever so slightly on the shoulders and whisper that Richard Hamilton's contract is indeed an albatross.

The man has used up all his good will in Detroit. Anything they can do to send him out of town would make their situation a whole lot better.

The Pistons need space, and this deal would grant them that. For the Cavaliers, this would be an amazing turn of events. While it may seem a bit greedy to nab the first and second picks in this draft, to do so would guarantee an extremely bright future.

This is a very shallow draft. If you dipped your toes in the waters of this draft, it would only go two players deep.

The only thing the Cavaliers have to worry about now is convincing the remaining parties that this trade is the sensible deal for all teams. Then they can sit back and smile for the first time since whatshisname left.

Baby Deer Is Just The Right Size For This Doggy Door

Baby deer, that door isn't for you, but you come on in whenever you want because you are just too cute to turn away!

If you can believe it, this little baby deer has decided to squeeze through a tiny door made for cats and wanders into a house made for people and pets of a smaller, more domesticated nature.

If this cute little deer happened to wander into my house I would struggle with not keeping him forever and showering him with baby deer luxuries. None of that watching out for cars and running away from vicious hunters for him.

Of course, I would have to talk myself out of this idea; they are wild animals after all. But the dream lives on in this video of my perfect world, a world where man and deer can set aside their differences and coexist peacefully.

New England Patriots: 5 Players to Watch Next Season

Even in a lockout, the 2011 NFL season looms large.

Obviously, all teams have playoff aspirations in May. But few teams are in the New England Patriots' position, a team that came close to doing postseason damage a year ago and should be improved this year.

In other words, as good as the 14-2 season of a year ago was, the Patriots should have their sights set on being better.

To improve as a team and spend more than 60 minutes in the playoffs, the Patriots are going to need some players to contribute the way they have been, some to contribute more, and some to contribute at all. Here's a look at a few of those players.

Snowball and Pepper Take-on the Treadmill and Hearts Everywhere Smile

Cats don't need exercise. They're perfect just the way they are. But for some reason these little guys can't help but be totally enthralled with the treadmill. And it makes sense if you think about it. While we might be all motivated, going for the run of our life, getting healthy, getting in shape and buff, to a cat the treadmill is a totally foreign contraption. Humans, on a moving walkway inside the house, huffing and puffing and fighting to walk in place.

So seeing it from Snowball and Pepper's perspectives, it makes complete sense that they would stare and poke and prod with their little furry mittenesque hands. They're simply looking out for our well being.

Pitt Panthers Football: New Coach Todd Graham Suspends Second Player

After Sports Illustrated released their report in the winter that the Pitt Panthers were the nation’s worst program when it came to players running afoul with the law, new Panthers head coach Todd Graham has made it a point to send a message to anyone planning on wearing a Pitt uniform.

That message was clear: Nothing will be tolerated.

Graham had to put his words to the test again; this time with a player he had high hopes for, backup quarterback Anthony Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was suspended indefinitely from the team last week after was arrested in his hometown of Bethlehem, PA for possession of marijuana.

Gonzalez, who redshirted last season, was really impressive during spring practice running Graham’s “high octane” offense. He was awarded the Ed Conway Award for the most improved player of the spring. He was competing against returning starter Tino Sunseri and another freshman reserve, Mark Myers, for the starting job.

After a slew of incidents painted a black eye on the program during Dave Wannstedt’s final season, the Pitt administration wanted its coach to have a strong disciplinary policy; something Graham takes very seriously.

In his short tenure as Panthers head coach, Gonzalez is the second player Graham has suspended.

During spring practice, starting tight end Mike Cruz was suspended for a violation of team rules and subsequently quit the team.

Gonzalez is someone who, after a stellar high school career at Liberty High School in Bethlehem, including being named the Associated Press Class AAAA Player of the Year in 2008, probably could have played a major role in Graham’s offense for the next couple of seasons.

While it’s still too early to tell what the future holds for Gonzalez as a Panther, the mountain for him to climb to become the Pitt starter likely just got a lot steeper.

Chances are that he will be reinstated at some point, but he’s likely starting out the season in Graham’s dog house.

It’s one thing for a coach to sit around and preach change. It’s entirely something different for him to act on those words.

That’s something Graham has shown thus far that he’s willing to do.

Champions League Final: FC Barcelona Champions of Europe Again

Barcelona did it again. For the third time in six seasons, and second since Pep Guardiola took charge three years ago, Barcelona are champions of Europe. Just like in 2009, they had to beat Manchester United in the final to win the title.

Barcelona received a huge blow even before the match, as captain Carles Puyol was deemed unfit to start and Javier Mascherano had to take his place. On the other hand, Abidal was finally ready to play 90 minutes for the first time since winning the hardest battle of his life.

Just like in Rome two years ago, Manchester United started the game better. They managed to put pressure on Barcelona and stop the Catalans' usual passing game, while creating some half-chances of their own.

However, Barcelona gradually managed to impose their style on the match and chances started coming.

As per usual, Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta completely dominated the midfield with their slick, intricate passing. It was Xavi who ended up finding a gap in Manchester United's defense (a gap left by Patrice Evra), setting up Pedro Rodriguez, who once again showed that he's one of the best finishers in the game—1-0 for Barcelona after 27 minutes.

After the goal, Barcelona continued their domination and Manchester United could barely see the ball. After a three week rest, Barcelona looked almost as fit as in the beginning of the season and it showed during the match. Barcelona looked likely to score the second at any moment.

However, even when they're being outplayed, world-class teams can score a goal at any given moment and that's precisely what Manchester United did. In the 34th minute, a harmless throw-in was turned into a goal chance, which Wayne Rooney (United's best player on the day) took brilliantly. Despite Barcelona's dominance, United were very much in the game. Barely did United know that Rooney's goal would be their first and last shot on target during the match.

It's not that Manchester United were bad, it's just that Barcelona were truly on fire and produced some of their best football under Pep Guardiola, with impeccable ball retention and asphyxiating pressure. At half-time, the score was tied and there was still everything left to play for.

In their previous visit to London this season, Barcelona had conceded their only European defeat of the year at Ashburton Grove, a defeat that can be attributed to Barcelona's second half complacency and poor finishing on the day. But this time, the opposite happened and Barcelona actually stepped it up a notch in the second half, which was almost entirely played in Manchester United's half.

In the 54th minute, the Boy Genius, Lionel Messi, skipped past Manchester United's defense and fired a longe range shot past Edwin Van der Sar. It was his 12th goal in this season's Champions League, thus equaling Rudd Van Nistelrooy's record and, more importantly, giving Barcelona an advantage that would prove to be decisive.

When David Villa scored the most important goal of his career (and arguably one of the best in Champions League final history), Barcelona supporters around the world knew that the Cup wouldn't get away.

Another year, another triumph for Barcelona and another triumph for the Barcelona philosophy. Once again yesterday, Barcelona fielded seven homegrown players. And what can we say about their homegrown manager Pep Guardiola?

In three years as a professional manager, Pep Guardiola "only" won 10 trophies (including three leagues and two Champions Leagues) and created a juggernaut who is hailed by most as one of the finest sides of all-time. He's certainly the best manager in the world today.

But as great as Guardiola is, he must share the plaudits with the players. What happens when the three greatest players on the planet happen to play at the same club? Total domination happens, Barcelona happens.

Over the past three years, no team has been capable to impose their game on Barcelona, every single game is played on Guardiola's terms, regardless of the quality of the opposition. As fantastic as all Barcelona players are, the importance of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta can't be stressed enough, especially in the case of the Argentine.

At only 23 years old, Messi has already won the Champions League on three occasions, he has become the first player to be top scorer of this competition three years in a row and in the end of the year he will receive his third consecutive Ballon d'Or (equaling the record, with many years left to break it).

With yesterday's goal, he also equaled Van Nistelrooy's record for most goals in a single Champions League edition and Raul and Shevchenko's record for most goals in the Champions League knockout stages (19), a record he's pretty certain to beat next season.

While it might be premature to hail Messi as the best player of alltime (especially since he hasn't achieved much with Argentina), it's pretty safe to say that Messi is the greatest player in Champions League history (in the current format). No player has managed to dominate this competition as Messi has been doing in the past three seasons.

Despite his young age, Messi is already the seventh best scorer in Champions League history with 37 goals (and a goal ratio only matched by Van Nistelrooy) and it's only a matter of time until he overtakes Raul in this department. What really separates Messi from other players is that 19 of his goals (more than half) came in the knockout stages, when it matters the most.

With Messi leading again, Barcelona will try to become the first team to defend the Champions League trophy in its current format. It won't be easy, but you'd be a fool to bet against Barcelona. The blaugrana outfit will once again start the competition as favorites to reach the final in Munich.

Despite losing the final, Manchester United have no reason to feel ashamed. They had another great season where they finally overtook Liverpool's Premier League titles and once again, like in 2009, got to the Champions League final unbeaten.

As Sir Alex Ferguson, graceful in defeat, admitted, United only lost to one of the all-time great teams and there's no shame in that. Manchester United were just unlucky that their most consistent period in Europe happened to coincide with this great Barcelona team.

That said, few doubt that Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United will have their chance again soon. Unlike Real Madrid in the semifinals, Manchester United tried to play football (as opposed to kick Barcelona players) and they can certainly hold their heads up high despite the result, they contributed to make the final a football spectacle.

But this is Barcelona's moment, Barcelona's year. It was a very difficult year for Barcelona, a season full of obstacles: World Cup-induced fatigue, an unusual injury crisis, the most expensive squad ever assembled in Real Madrid, the Madrid media, Madrid's anti-football, baseless accusations of cheating, doping, racism...you name it.

It took enormous mental strength for Pep Guardiola and the player to overcome all these obstacles and still come up victorious. And next season promises to be an even bigger challenge, with Real Madrid going on another mad summer spree and all. But this side has already proved they have what it takes to see off all their challengers and remain at the top. If they stick to their principles and philosophy, they certainly will.

Puyol letting Eric Abidal lift the Cup in the end showed what Barcelona is all about, in what was certainly one of the greatest moments of this football year.

Danica Patrick: Fuel Shortage Opens Door for Dan Wheldon to Win Wild Indy 500

Danica Patrick Runs Out of Gas After Leading At Indy 500

Well, if it was Danica Patrick's last run at Indy 500 she certainly gave it all she had.

After fighting with her car for most of the day, Danica Patrick finally took the lead late in the race at Indianapolis but it wasn't enough.

With about 12 laps to go Danica, who knew she needed a yellow to maintain the lead, had to hit the pit as she was once again foiled by the gas gauge.

She raced and raced all day and finally got her car in position to win, but the timing of the yellow flags left her out in the cold and she ended up in 10th place at the 2011 Indianapolis 500.

Must Read: Memorial Day Tribute to What We Miss in Sports

Danica wasn't the only one battling fuel issues and a number of drivers throttled down in the last 20 laps hoping to conserve fuel for a run at the checkered.

With only a handful of laps to go rookie J.R. Hildebrand took the lead and also the white flag, but it wasn't enough for him either.

Coming into turn four Hildebrand got high and found his way into the wall instead of crossing the finish line first; he left the door open for Dan Wheldon to coast to victory.

Hildebrand was close that he actually rode the wall with all three wheels into a second place finish.

Once again for Danica Patrick it wasn't her year, but she did give a great run at it.

If she chooses to move on to NASCAR and leave the IndyCar series behind she can at least say she was part of one of the wildest finishes in the history of the Indy 500.

UFC 130 Results: Is Brian Stann Ready for the Big Time?

Bleacher Report's Nick Colon:

With Brian Stann's third-straight UFC win over Jorge Santiago on Memorial Day weekend, Stann proved he is clearly ready for tougher competition.

Stann finished Santiago in the second round with consecutive shots to Santiago's face which forced referee Herb Dean to step in, all the while proving the ex-Marine is ready for a step up in competition against the top fighters in the middleweight division.

Stann also paid tribute to his fellow U.S. Marines in his postfight conversation, showing he is an American first and foremost and a fighter second.

With the win, Stann is 3-0 since his move to the middleweight division, and with wins over Chris "The Crippler" Leben and Mike Massenzio, along with the win over Santiago, it would behoove the UFC brass to set Stann up for a top-10 fight following his win.

Arsenal FC 2011: A Season of Shambles, Has Arsne Wenger Lost the Plot?

The season is over!

Arsenal have finished fourth in the league and remain trophyless yet again for the sixth season running. Whose fault is it?

Many are quick to blame the manager as he picks the team week in week out and was responsible for taking crucial decisions that affected the team's performance.

Is Arsène Wenger really to blame for all Arsenal's woes? Were all those trophies in his first nine seasons simply a fluke on his part, as since that generation of players have moved on he has seemingly been unable to replicate that success at any level?

Seriously, let's think about it: Who is responsible for the direction in which the team faces? I'm not talking about executive corporate decisions, but rather the nitty-gritty decision-making that relates to tactics, squad reinforcements, choice of Captain, etc.

I appreciate the fact that Wenger is the most successful manager in the history of the club, but things have to be put in the right perspective.

Would it make any difference if he had done things differently in the summer in regards to signings or reinforcements in January? And what if he had been more tactically decisive as per substitutions, as seen in the last three games of the season?

The list of possibilities is endless, and we can only wonder "what if?"

As such, since the theory that the manager has lost the plot is not backed by any empirical evidence, I am unwilling to accept that he has. I still believe that he has a great vision as to which direction the team should head and is currently heading.

The idea that we are a still a young team is not an excuse anymore. Actually, it has never really been an excuse. It was a simple statement of fact that has often been misunderstood by certain sections of the supporters and the media in general asking all who cared to look at the picture and focus on the positives in the context of the achievements of the season.

A number of years ago, Wenger asked if winning the Carling Cup was better than finishing fourth in the Premier League. Ask Birmingham today, they got relegated after winning the Carling Cup this year. Food for thought!

This year, I believe Arsenal came very close to success, only missing out on success by a consistent marginal inadequacy. Arsenal fans were thus left to rue their losses and consider what might have been...what if?

Till next time...Victoria Concordia Crescit

UFC 130 Results: Frank Mir Decimates Roy Nelson; What's Next for Mir?

Frank Mir showed that skills outweigh weight in his dominant three -round decision victory over Roy "Big Country" Nelson at UFC 130 Saturday night.

The tougher question now is determining where Mir goes from here, as the only step is up in the food chain.

"Keep getting better. Keep improving," said Mir to Joe Rogan of his future in the UFC's Heavyweight division.

But does that improvement garner him a shot at current champion Cain Velasquez? Likely no, but that doesn't mean that Mir's not on the cusp of a title shot with another win or two in a row. Could a possible third fight with Brock Lesnar be on the horizon?

If history is any indicator, the UFC would welcome a fight of this magnitude upon Lesnar's return to the Octagon, and would be a great draw to solidify the No. 1 contender position in a ever-growing UFC heavyweight division. Lesnar's currently recovering from his rampant bout with diverticulitis, and a winner-take-all fight with Mir would be a nice way of reintroducing Lesnar to the weight class.

To further breakdown his fight against Nelson, Mir landed 41 power strikes to Nelson's lowly 16 power strikes, which included Nelson not landing a single power strike in the third round. Mir also successfully took down Nelson on six-of-eight attempts, and secured three dominant positions according to Fightmetric.com.

Mir thoroughly disposed of a game—but typically overweight Nelson, and will most definitely get a step up in competition in his next fight, albeit against Lesnar or another heavyweight contender.

Jane Seymour on 'The View'At the premiere of her new film 'Love, Marriage, Wedding,' Jane Seymour found herself speculating about the break-up of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. She said she thought Schwarzengger was father to at least two more out-of-wedlock children, and predicted more information would soon surface. Friday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Seymour apologized for the remarks, and said she hoped she didn't add to the family's pain.

"I am so beyond sorry and appalled that I found myself even talking on the subject at all," said Seymour. "I just feel so badly for Maria and the children because I've been through similar kinds of stuff."
