While Tom Brady may be seeing just how long he can grow his hair and put it in a pony tail, the New England Patriots' brass is preparing for another successful NFL Draft.
This is like Christmas to the Patriots. They see if they can stockpile presents - or in this case, draft picks - and select some players this season and hold onto some for the future.
They also love to re-gift - or trade.
The Patriots have two selections in the first round as of now. They have the 17th selection from the Oakland Raiders, and then their own selection at the 28th spot.
Considering just how well this team has done in the past, this is damaging news to the rest of the AFC.
They could hold on to both picks. They could trade one of them and trade down for more picks. They could package both picks and move way up in the first round.
But if you spend too much time thinking about what Bill Belichik will do, then clearly you enjoy wasting time.
The Pats need help up front first and foremost. But they also love drafting tight ends, so you can never truly rule that out.
Still, I feel that even though they may have to move up a spot or two to get him, the most natural fit with the Patriots is J.J. Watt from the Wisconsin Badgers.
Rob Rang of CBS Sports and NFLDraftScout also feels the same way.
Rang says "Watt's size and strength make him an ideal fit as a 3-4 defensive end. He also plays with the high motor and physicality Bill Belichick is looking for in his front seven talent."
There is no point even analyzing any other buzz from this team, because when it comes to the Patriots, the bottom line is that no one knows what they are ever thinking.
Yet it always seems to work out well.
