Miguel Cotto Will Violently Knock Out Ricardo Mayorga in Two Months

WBA world light welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will defend his crown against former WBA and WBC welterweight titlist “El Matador” Ricardo Mayorga on March 12 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Cotto (35-2, 28 KOs), a Puerto Rican icon, last fought in June when he trumped valiant Jew Yuri Foreman (28-1-0-1, 8 KOs) by a ninth-round TKO at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Conversely, Mayorga (29-7-1, 23 KOs) has appeared in the squared circle only once since he was knocked onto Queer Street by Shane Mosley in September 2008.

"My pants are up higher than Cotto's. I'm going to be the man, and Cotto will be the woman," said Mayorga, 37, a psychotic Nicaraguan with a mouth the size of the city of Managua. "On March 12, Puerto Rico is going to be dressed in black for your funeral. I can see fear in your eyes."

Unlike Mayorga, Cotto soundly dominated Mosley (46-6-1-1, 39 KOs) and earned a unanimous decision victory in their lopsided November 2007 bout.

"Welcome all of you to Ricardo Mayorga's first press conference for his circus," said Cotto, 30, speaking even as Mayorga continued to taunt him like the worthless clown pocket he is. "When you spoke earlier, I kept my mouth shut, now you remain quiet. I am a professional and with these tiny pants and these tiny hands I beat Shane Mosley. Do you remember Shane Mosley?”

Cotto continued his abnormal verbal barrage targeting Mayorga.

"I am a gentleman, you are a joker and a clown. All your career you have run off at the mouth and in all the big fights you've failed. Just so you know who I am, I am a three-time world champion."

“Many fans considered Cotto done after he brutally lost to Pacquiao and Margarito,” said Mike McCarthy, 28, a diehard boxing fan from Dorchester (Mass.). “At the least, Cotto has enough left to defeat Mayorga this spring.”

Mayorga is his own “circus” and he is never “going to be the man” inside, or outside, the ring.

Unfortunately for “El Matador,” Cotto is the personification of a “professional” and he will easily emerge victorious in two months over Mayorga with a resounding, and violent, sixth round knockout.
