After asking for a million dollars on YouTube and then announcing that someone had come forward and agreed to give him the money, Craig Rowin shocked a packed audience at the UCB Theatre in New York last night when he revealed that the entire thing was a hoax.Of course, this all took place after an actor hired to play "Benjamin", the mysterious millionaire, signed a fake one million dollar check and handed it to Craig on stage.
I'd love to say that I knew it was a prank the whole time, but I was really on-board with the whole strangers-doing-really-nice-things theme we've been having on the internet lately, so when Craig ripped out that lighter and set the check on fire, a little unicorn-shaped part of my heart died.
But then I laughed because touché, Craig. Touché.
