Super Bowl 2011 will feature two great quarterbacks with very different styles and offensive approaches in place in order to drive their offenses.
Ben Roethlisberger of the Pittsburgh Steelers will be playing his third Super Bowl, and his team has always relied on a stout, imposing defense combined with an efficient offense that doesn't think throw first, but instead looks to eat up yardage on the ground.
For Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, these NFL playoffs have been a validation of his strong regular season play over his few years as a starter for the Packers in the wake of Brett Favre's departure. Now he steps onto the big Super Bowl stage looking to deliver a championship to Green Bay, while continuing to make do with a severely banged-up offensive unit.
Rodgers thrived for much of the season despite the fact that the team struggled to find a running back and saw key offensive players deal with injuries. He lost one of his favorite targets in tight end Jermichael Finley, and yet Rodgers' play never sagged.
The issue for Rodgers, like many of his teammates, was injury. He dealt with a concussion that kept him out of action briefly in the middle of the season. Yet he came back as if he hadn't missed a beat, dominating the New York Giants in Week 16.
His run through the playoffs was impressive, as he enjoyed great games against the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons en route to the NFC title game. The Bears slowed him down a bit, but he is now poised to try and win the Super Bowl.
It would be the perfect ending for Rodgers, who is justifying the Packers' decision to say goodbye to Favre and usher in the Rodgers Era. He could be doing a legit championship belt celebration Sunday night if he's able to lead his team to the Lombardi Trophy.
