The Washington Wizards, who are in need of a backup ball handler, have decided to re-sign point guard Lester Hudson.Earlier Monday, a source close to the situation told FanHouse the move was coming.
The Wizards traded away former franchise point guard Gilbert Arenas over the weekend for Rashard Lewis, a trade that will no doubt have lingering effects on the team's roster (FanHouse's David Steele did an excellent job analyzing the legacy he left in D.C).
One of the more immediate effects, however, is the team's need for a backup point guard as Kirk Hinrich slides over to the one to replace ailing rookie John Wall, who could be out longer than expected due to a bone bruise under his kneecap.
"Because of John's injury situation and the trade, we'll probably have to bring in somebody else," Wizards team president Ernie Grunfeld told the Washington Post. "There's nothing structural (with Wall). But until the pain subsides, we're not going to rush him back, that's for sure."
