NFL Draft Rumors Suggest That San Francisco 49ers Will Draft a QB
It is no secret that the San Francisco 49ers are desperate to bring in a new QB this offseason. There has been much speculation that they may trade for a QB like Kevin Kolb, or sign Marc Bulger once the lockout is over.
However, GM Trent Baalke has all but confirmed that the 49ers will be looking to select a QB in the draft, by saying,
We know we have to address it. Will we draft a quarterback? The likelihood is yes.

The chances of San Francisco landing one of the top two QBs in the draft are pretty slim, barring they decide to trade up.
The top rated QB available when the 49ers come up to pick will likely be Jake Locker, who is probably not worthy of the No. 7 pick. However, the San Francisco 49ers may still be looking to select a QB in the first round.
The 49ers draft this year may be very similar to the draft the Washington Redskins had in 2005, when Baalke was a member of the Redskins front office. The Redskins selected a CB (Carlos Rogers) at No. 9 and then traded back into the first round to select Jason Campbell at No. 25.
Andy Dalton and Christian Ponder two of the top QBs in the tier behind Gabbert and Newton are now expected to be selected in the first round. With that in mind, don't be surprised if the 49ers look to trade back into the first round to select Dalton, Ponder, or Ryan Mallett.
