2011 NBA Mock Draft Gets Exciting in Potential Cavaliers and Timberwolves Trade
Don't look now, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are showing a greedy disposition. And I Like it.
ESPN is reporting that Cavaliers, Timberwolves and Pistons are all discussing a three-way trade that would net the Cavaliers the first and second overall selections at next month's draft.
Chris Broussard of ESPN explains the finer details of the trade:
Cleveland would absorb Detroit's Richard Hamilton into the $14.6 million trade exception it received in last summer's LeBron James sign-and-trade with Miami, while also receiving the Pistons' No. 8 pick. The Cavaliers would then send that pick, along with their fourth pick, to Minnesota for the Timberwolves' second pick. Cleveland would then buy Hamilton out of the $25 million remaining in the last two years on his contract, leaving the veteran shooting guard free to sign with another club as a free agent. Chicago would be one of the likeliest destinations. Sources say, however, that Detroit will not consummate the trade as proposed without receiving players in return.

Someone needs to tap the Pistons ever so slightly on the shoulders and whisper that Richard Hamilton's contract is indeed an albatross.
The man has used up all his good will in Detroit. Anything they can do to send him out of town would make their situation a whole lot better.
The Pistons need space, and this deal would grant them that. For the Cavaliers, this would be an amazing turn of events. While it may seem a bit greedy to nab the first and second picks in this draft, to do so would guarantee an extremely bright future.
This is a very shallow draft. If you dipped your toes in the waters of this draft, it would only go two players deep.
The only thing the Cavaliers have to worry about now is convincing the remaining parties that this trade is the sensible deal for all teams. Then they can sit back and smile for the first time since whatshisname left.
