Alina Kabayeva, the former Russian gymnast whose current claim to fame is serving as Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's mistress, finds herself on the cover of the current issue of the Russian Vogue magazine.
The cover has set off a firestorm of reaction from the public, who seem to think putting a political figure's alleged mistress on the cover of such a prominent magazine is downright scandalous (in the United States, it's called "Us Weekly").
Kabayeva is one of the most decorated rhythmic gymnasts in history, racking up a pair of Olympic medals (gold in 2004, bronze in 2000), 18 World Championship medals, and 25 European championship medals.
She currently serves in the State Duma, Russia's parliament, as a member of the pro-Kremlin United Russia party.
