Bubba Watson Has the Game to Shake Up 2011 U.S. Open Golf
If you haven't been playing close attention to the 2011 U.S. Open you probably haven't seen Bubba Watson. Not because his game has been nondescript, but because his camo pants make him nearly impossible to see on the course.
In fact, Watson's game is many things, but nondescript is not one of them
When Bubba Watson is playing good he is as good as any golfer on the planet. His distance is unmatched. His short game is top-notch, and his putting displays deft touch. His in-round consistency leaves something to be desired however.
He put that in-round inconsistency on full display in the opening round of the 2011 U.S. Open. He fired out to a 3-under before giving up ground and finishing at even par.
Well, he opened play on Friday in the same not-quite trendy camo pants and then proved as quickly as possible that his pants wouldn't be the only similarity from his Thursday round.

Watson's up and down play has carried over. Watson easily birdied the opening par-4 first. But he went on to fire a 4-over 75. He barely made the cut.
Considering he is 15 shots back a chance to win is not very realistic, but it's not impossible. If Watson can put together back-to-back rounds it is not out of the realm of possibility that he could go 10-under over two days. And that turns his 4-over to a 6-under.
However, the odds are he will give the course back any strokes he takes from it. The best bet of all with Watson is that whatever he does it will be entertaining.
