Miami Heat: LeBron James and the Heat Finally Figure Out How to Close

The Miami Heat Have Become Dominate in The Fourth Quarter of The 2011 NBA Playoffs

The Miami Heat took so much crap from fans and media alike for not being able to closeout games earlier in the season. They were 1-for-19 during the season in essentially must-make late game situations.

That is all a distant memory now that we are in the NBA Finals.

The ability for the Heat to close has been almost flawless. They have 10 wins of 10 points-or-less in the playoffs?with only one loss.

In Game One of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, LeBron James played incredible defense, hit multiple clutch shots and had the dagger of a dunk sealing the win.

At Wednesday's shoot around he talked about how the failures of the regular seasons have prepared them for the playoffs:

It comes through failure throughout the season. Having games where we felt like we could or should have won games late and we just didn?t execute. Once we figured out how we were going to do it for the better of the team, we started to close games out. .?.?.I do have confidence that if I have the ball in my hands or if I get the ball in my hands, that I can make a play, nor only for myself but for my teammates to help us win the game.

The Heat have never had so much confidence and it's beginning to be their M.O.

LeBron played shutdown defense on Derrick Rose in the fourth quarter of the Eastern Conference and really made Dirk Nowitzki work for everything.

He is the best one-on-one defender in the game and saving all of his energy for the fourth quarter is killing the opposition. A player with the supreme talent of Dirk doesn't even have the answer.

Three more games to go before the Heat close the season once and for all.
